Matolek, the puppet from Poland
Matolek the Billy Goat is a fictional character of the one of first Polish comic sand cartoons, dating back to 1933. Matolek became an important part of the children’s literature in Poland, he is still very popular. Matolek is searching for Pacanow, a town famous for making horseshoes. He visits many places in the world, from Africa and Europe to Asia and both Americas. He misses his homeland and desparately wants to find the way to Pacanow in Poland. He evokes the picture of Polish national flag as he has a white fur and is dressed in red shorts. He is naïve, clumsy, not very bright but honest and nice. He can be the symbol of a globetrotter.
